About Revive Highland Park
About Highland Park, Michigan
Highland Park, Michigan was once one of the most idyllic cities in the United States - in the early 1900s it was the site of Ford's first assembly line factory, the headquarters of Chrysler, and it thrived with incredible neighborhoods, parks, stores and culture. At only 2.9 square miles in size, it slowly became surrounded by the much larger city of Detroit in the 1940s, but by the 1960s, businesses started pulling out of the city, beginning it's decline. It is currently one of the poorest cities in the United States, with a population of only about 8,500 people, compared to it's height of 52,000 in the 1930s, but is surrounded by some of the wealthiest suburbs in the midwest. Many of the current residents are stuck in situations that they just cannot get themselves out of, and are living in very difficult conditions.
Our Mission
We are creating a short and full length documentary with the goal of raising awareness of the situation that the current residents are in, and connecting people with organizations who are actively helping the residents to improve their lives. A short 3-5 minute film is now in it's final production stages, and we will be going to churches and groups in the surrounding communities to show the film in hopes that people will be inspired to contact the organizations that are helping, and volunteer their time and resources to lift up the residents of Highland Park. The current goal is to raise the funds needed to finish the short film in order to go out with it to the community, and then to finish the full length film to fully explain the current situation, and show the many ways the various organizations are helping, and how people can join them to help this community. We believe that God asks us to help our neighbors in need, and we are hoping that people in the metro Detroit area who see these films will indeed join in and help these incredible people. Thank you for considering joining this cause.
